An RCMP officer has died while on duty in the southeast part of Saskatchewan.

The RCMP confirmed the death in a media release sent at 3:30 p.m. on June 12. More information will be available during a press conference at 5 p.m.

Police also plan to release more information about an investigation related to the death.

At 10:10 a.m. on Saturday, the RCMP released a statement advising residents in the communities of Wolseley and Francis to expect a large police presence as officers searched for suspects involved in a serious vehicle collision that occurred earlier in the day.

Police took two suspects into custody at around 10 a.m.

Francis is located roughly 66 km southeast of Regina on Hwy 33. Wolseley is located east of Regina on the Trans-Canada Highway.
