RCMP charge 16-year-old youth with murder following investigation in Grandmother’s Bay

RCMP charge 16-year-old youth with murder following investigation in Grandmother’s Bay

RCMP have arrested a 16-year-old boy following an investigation into the death of Norris Kevin Charles, 32, in Grandmother’s Bay early Saturday morning.

Police and La Ronge EMS discovered Charles’ body after being called to an assault at a residence at around 1:30 a.m. on Feb. 29.

Police later arrested the 16-year-old youth, who also hails from Grandmother’s Bay. He cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Police have charged him with Second Degree Murder. He will make his first court appearance in La Ronge on Monday.

RCMP Major Crimes Unit South has taken over the investigation, with help from La Ronge and Stanley Mission RCMP. Yorkton and Prince Albert General Investigation Sections are also assisting, as are Prince Albert Forensic Identification Services and Prince Albert Police Dog Services.

An autopsy is scheduled for Mar. 2 in Saskatoon.
