Raiders top Pats in Regina

The Prince Albert Raiders have entered the win column in WHL pre-season play.

Justin Nachbaur scored twice for the visitors Friday as they picked up a 5-2 win over the Regina Pats at the Brandt Centre in a preview of next weekend’s season opener between the two clubs.

Brett Leason and Sean Montgomery had a goal and assist each for the Raiders, who also received two-assist performances from Max Martin and Spencer Moe.

Carson Miller also scored and Cole Fonstad had an assist in his pre-season debut.

Goaltender Curtis Meger made his first start of exhibition play and made 26 saves Friday to improve Prince Albert’s record to 1-2-0-1.

Logan Nijhoff scored twice for the Pats, who finished up their pre-season play with a 3-3-0-0 record, while Kyle Dumba turned aside 20 shots.

Prior to hosting the Pats next Friday night, the Raiders will entertain the Saskatoon Blades Saturday at the Art Hauser Centre.

The Blades have a 6-0 record in exhibition play, which puts them with the 4-0 Calgary Hitmen as the only teams with unblemished records.
