Simon Stransky’s overtime winner snapped a two-and-a-half year drought for the Prince Albert Raiders, and kept the Moose Jaw Warriors from clinching second spot in the WHL’s East Division.

Stransky’s goal at the 1:29 mark of overtime gave the Raiders a 3-2 victory, and their first regular season win in Moose Jaw since October 2014.

Max Martin and Parker Kelly also scored for Prince Albert, while Nicholas Sanders stopped 41 saves to earn his 10th victory of the season.

Dimitri Zaitsev and Noah Gregor replied for the Warriors, who could have clinched home ice advantage for the first round of the WHL playoffs with a win on Tuesday. The loss means they remain five points up on the Swift Current Broncos, who beat the Brandon Wheat Kings 6-3. Both the Broncos and Warriors have three games each remaining.

The win gives the Raiders a record of 20-43-5-2 going into the final two games of the season. They’ll finish things off with a home-and-home weekend series against the Saskatoon Blades. The first game takes place on Friday, March 17 at the SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon. Puck drop is 7:05 p.m.
