Raiders make first cuts after Green and White game

The Prince Albert Raiders have started to whittle down their roster ahead of the 2018-19 Western Hockey League pre-season.

After 61 players showed up for the team’s training camp this week, Raiders brass trimmed that number down to 29 Tuesday night as they parted ways with 32 players.

The Raiders wrapped up training camp with their annual Green and White game Tuesday, which saw Team Green pick up a 5-1 win.

Ozzy Weisblatt led the way on offence with a goal and an assist for the victors, who also got goals from Kaiden Guhle, Mathew Lehman, Tyson Laventure and Logan Linklater.

Brett Balas turned aside 16 shots in the first half of the game, while Andreai Proctor-Ramirez stopped all 20 shots he faced.

Mackenzie Belinski had the lone goal for Team White, who also split up their goaltending duties.

Sam Smith made nine saves in the opening 30 minutes of play, while Draydon Ramage stopped 15 shots in the second half of action.
