Having already added to the team’s forward depth by getting Bryce Bader from the Calgary Hitmen, Prince Albert Raiders general manager Curtis Hunt has now made a move to strengthen the blueline.

In the second trade made by the club on WHL Trade Deadline Day, the Raiders picked up defenceman Loeden Schaufler from the Seattle Thunderbirds in exchange for an eighth round pick in the 2019 WHL Draft.

The 18-year-old from DeWinton, Alta. had two assists in 20 games for the Thunderbirds, who acquired him from the Kootenay Ice in October.

A third round pick in the 2015 WHL Draft, Schaufler had six assists in 37 games with the Ice from 2016 to 2018.

Teams have until 4 p.m. Saskatchewan time to make a deal ahead of the final two months of the regular season.
