Police respond to impaired driving; assault

Impaired driving and assault with a weapon were just two of the 294 calls for service the Prince Albert Police Service responded to over the weekend.

Police made 41 arrests during the weekend, and conducted 26 neighborhood patrols focusing on proactive enforcement.

Shortly before 9 p.m. Friday evening, police were dispatched to a business in the 500 Block of 15 Street East for a report of a man with a knife who had fled from the area.

Minutes later, another officer found the suspect running in the 200 Block of 15 Street East. A 21-year-old man has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon and theft.

Then, at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday, officers were called to the 140-0 Block of 15 Street West for a report of a motor vehicle accident. One vehicle had reportedly hit another before crashing into a tree in a residential back yard. A 26-year-old woman was arrested and
