Police respond to gun-related calls over the weekend

Prince Albert police are investigating after a man was shot over the weekend.

According to a media release, a 29-year-old man was transported to the hospital by Parkland Ambulance after receiving a gunshot wound to the leg following an incident in the 1100 Block of 17th Street West at about 6:20 a.m. The investigation is ongoing.

Police were called to the same area, the 1000 Block of 17th Street West later that morning.

A witness reported hearing a gunshot at about 11:30 a.m. and seeing a man and woman walking in the area.

Police investigated and found a shotgun inside a nearby residence. A 23-year-old man is facing several gun-related charges.

Those calls were among the 231 police responded to over the weekend. The majority of the calls involved intoxicated people and disturbances.

Police are also investigating a break and enter to the Kinsmen Ski Hill compound at Little Red River Park. Overnight between Saturday and Sunday, someone cut a fence to the compound. Cords used to operate two snowmaking machines were taken. They contained copper wire.
