Nearly a year after a fatal crash east of Saskatoon, police have charged a Prince Albert man with two counts of impaired driving causing death.

David Deagnon, 31, was arrested Wednesday morning and charged in connection with a collision on Highway 2 just east of Colonsay dating back to October 25, 2016. That morning, a small-sized passenger bus and a pickup truck collided, killing a 60-year-old passenger and a 69-year-old driver of the bus. Two other people were sent to hospital with injuries.

Deagnon is facing two counts of driving while being impaired by a drug causing death, and one count of causing injury while driving high. He is also charged with criminal negligence and dangerous driving, two counts each for causing death and one for causing injury.

He was set to appear in Saskatchewan Provincial Court in Saskatoon on Wednesday morning.
