UPDATED: RCMP located Colin Evan Lemaigre at a residence in La Loche the morning of Sunday, Dec. 29. He made his first court appearance the next day facing charges of assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, failing to stop when pursued by police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and obstruction of a peace officer.

The RCMP are looking for the man responsible for dragging a police officer 50 to 100m during a vehicle stop south of the community of La Loche.

The incident occurred on Highway 155 at around 8 p.m. on Dec. 21.  A constable from the La Loche RCMP detachment was speaking with the occupants of a vehicle when the driver sped off, dragging the officer with them.

The officer suffered injuries after coming free of the vehicle and falling to the roadway. He was treated in hospital and has since been released.

Police have issued a warrant for 32-year-old Colin Evan Lemaigre of La Loche in connection with the incident. He faces multiple charges, including Assaulting a Peace Officer with a Weapon. Lemaigre is still at large, according to a media release from RCMP.
