Police investigating west flat arson

Police are investigating a suspicious fire from the 2:30 a.m. on September 16. The fire did $40,000 worth of damage. No one was in the residence at the time of the blaze. (Peter Lozinski/Daily Herald).

Police are investigating an early Saturday morning suspicious fire.

At 2:30 a.m., police were dispatched to the 1100 Block of 14 Street West, near the back of Queen Mary School, for a report of a fire. When officers arrived, the fire department was already on scene putting out the fire.

No people were in the residence at the time of the fire. The single story residence experienced fire damage estimated at $40,000. The fire is considered suspicious and an investigation is underway.

By Monday afternoon the house had been boarded up, but fire damage was still visible along the west side of the residence.
