Police investigate ‘suspicious’ fire on Ahtahkakoop First Nation

RCMP are investigating a “suspicious” fire on Ahtahkakoop First Nation.

The blaze broke out early on the morning of April 17. Police arrived on the scene at about 3:40 a.m. to find the First Nation’s Social Development Building “completely engulfed in flames.”

Firefighters battled the fire, but the building was declared a total loss. There were no injuries or death.

In a press release, the Shellbrook RCMP said that they are treating the fire as suspicious and have launched an investigation.
