Police have found a body in a West Flat home.
According to a police press release, officers visited a residence at 829 17 Street West at about 6 p.m. Wednesday. Police Spokesperson Alanna Adamko said they were responding to a call, though she declined to elaborate.
While there, officers discovered a body. They contained the scene and got a warrant to search the residence.
Adamko did not reveal the suspected cause of death, or the name of the victim. She said that no charges have yet been laid in connection with the death.
A family member informed the Herald that the body may be that of Duane Brett Ledoux, who has reportedly been missing since last week. Multiple posts mourning Ledoux’s death emerged on Facebook after the news broke.
The residence is on a block lined with boarded up houses, some of which have been burnt in recent fires. It is almost directly across an alley from the place where Dylan Bennett was stabbed and apparently left to burn last month.
Police were still on scene Thursday morning. Investigators were seen combing through a large truck full of what looked like junk and dusting for fingerprints.
Thomas Black, who lives in the home right next door to 829 17 Street West, said the house has been a problem spot in the neighbourhood.
“I heard it’s like a dealer’s house,” he said.
The Prince Albert Police Service said the death is considered suspicious. They continue to investigate with the assistance of the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Prince Albert Police Service’s forensic identification unit.
