Prince Albert’s Venice House Pirates continue to create success in their 2017-18 season.
The Bantam AA boys hockey team has notched 13 wins, one loss and one tie so far this year, earning 27 points in the process
At 15 games played, the Pirates are nearly halfway through their 31-game season, holding first place in the 22-team provincial league; they’re one point up on the Swift Current Kabos Broncos.
The point gained from their lone tie – played against the Humboldt Broncos on Oct. 15 – is, for now, proving to be the difference between the top two teams.
The Pirates’ most recent success came a week ago on Sunday, Nov. 26 against the Saskatoon Outlaws: They beat the Saskatoon squad 6-2, finding goals in each period.
Fellow forwards Ashton Ferster and Gabe Klassen combined for seven points in the game: Ferster had a hat-trick of goals, plus one assist. His three goals all came in the game’s first period.

Klassen had three assists in the game, including on each on Ferster’s first two goals.
The pair is ranked among the league’s top-10 players for points scored.
Klassen has scored 39 points this year (25 goals, 14 assists), good enough for second place; he sits one point behind the Outlaws’ Matthew Hodson.
Ferster sits in eighth place, scoring 29 points this year, via 13 goals and 16 assists.
The team’s next regular season play at home will be on Dec. 16 at 7:15 p.m. at the Art Hauser Centre; the Pirates will play against the Estevan Bruins.
