Local wrestler Kalin Langford commits to University of Saskatchewan

After wrestling for four years for St. Mary High School and the Prince Albert Wrestling Club, Kalin Langford will be taking his talents to the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.

“Wrestling-wise, I think that their program is a really good fit for (me),” Langford said.

“I think that the environment that they have there and the people that are involved with the team are really what I need to improve as a wrestler and I think that they can really help me there.”

The U of S wasn’t the only option for Langford. He said universities from across the Prairie Provinces and even as far as Ontario showed an interest in recruiting him to their programs. He said he appreciated the attention.

“I thought it was really cool just because I come from a really small town, Christopher Lake, and I thought it was just really cool that all those people saw that I was out there,” Langford said.

Langford decided to go with the U of S after attending a camp with the team at the University of Alberta in December.

“I just had lots of fun with them and I got to really meet a lot of the other wrestlers and I got to meet and connect with (Huskies head coach) Dan Olver,” he said.

“I really like their environment. Their team environment was really close and really supportive.”
