Prince Albert will be well represented at the upcoming Waskesiu Lakeside Music Festival, with both the master of ceremonies and the opening act hailing from the city.

Magician Roger Boucher will host the weekend’s festivities and All Mighty Voice will be the first band to take to the stage on Saturday. It’s the first time both local acts are performing at the festival, which takes place at Waskesiu Lake from Friday, Aug. 25 to Sunday, Aug. 27.

The last time Boucher attended the festival was as a spectator.

“We went a couple years ago and it was definitely a lot of fun. There’s a lot of great bands and a lot of things going on throughout the park,” he said.

“We camped and it was great.”

This time around he has a job to do. He said he’ll be responsible for keeping everything on track and on time and filling space when needed.

“My role as MC will entail introducing all the bands. I’m going to also be filling in two 30 minute spots where there’s a lull so I’ll be doing magic on stage as well as some other fun stuff for the kids and families that are there,” Boucher said.

The first band Boucher will be introducing is P.A.’s All Mighty Voice, who kick off the musical entertainment on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. All Mighty Voice singer Shane Lazarowich said the band had the opportunity to play at the festival in the past but they were already booked at a wedding.

“A couple of us did drop by and check it out and it looked really good,” Lazarowich said.

“Now this was a couple of years ago and I think it’s grown since then. But this year they seem to have stepped it up quite a bit they have a really good lineup. Some really well known Saskatchewan bands.”
