Prince Albert Mintos

Zac Robins had a pair of goals and Hunter Lolacher made 32 saves as the Tisdale Trojans ended the Prince Albert Mintos winning streak with a 4-2 victory on Friday.

Chase Bertholet and Dawson Springer had the goals for Prince Albert, while goalie Joel Favreau made 20 saves. The loss means the Mintos head into the Christmas break with a 18-11-0-1 record.

Prince Albert came flying out of the gate, outshooting Tisdale 12-4 in the first period, but it was the Trojans who struck first. Jeremy Hancock scored just three-and-a-half minutes into the first period to give the home side a 1-0 lead. The Mintos responded roughly 10 minutes later when Bertholet scored his 10th of the season on the power play to make it 1-1.

However, the Trojans took the lead for good early in the second. Robins scored on the power play 2:01 into the first. Carter Briltz then made it 3-1 Trojans roughly six minutes later.

Springer’s goal with just 37 seconds left in the second period made it 3-2, but the Mintos couldn’t get any closer. Robins iced the contest with his second of the night roughly two-and-a-half minutes into the third period.

The Mintos are off until Mac’s Midget AAA Invitational Tournament, which begins after Christmas in Calgary. Their first game is on Dec. 27 against the Sherwood Park Kings.
