Mintos edge Trojans in a shootout

The Prince Albert Mintos wrapped up a seven-game road swing on a winning note Wednesday night as they picked up a 3-2 shootout triumph over the Tisdale Trojans.

With the victory, which was the second in a row for the Mintos, the club improved to 22-13-1-0 for the season and has a five-point lead over the Trojans for sixth place in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League standings.

They are also just two points behind the Saskatoon Blazers and the Notre Dame Hounds for fourth place in the league table.

Chase Bertholet led the way on offence for the Mintos as he had the lone goal in the shootout and picked up a goal and an assist in regulation time.

Gage Helm had the other goal for the visitors, who received a 31-save showing from Joel Favreau.

Kalen Ukrainetz and Trenton Curtis replied for the 19-14-1-1 Trojans, while Hunter Lolacher stopped 19 shots.

The Mintos will start a five-game homestand at the Art Hauser Centre on Saturday at 1:30 p.m., as they’ll take on the 16-13-3-1 Swift Current Legionnaires.

They will then go up against on the 23-9-1-0 Hounds on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
