Ward 1 Coun. Charlene Miller is Prince Albert’s most attentive representative, at least according to the city council record of attendance included in the upcoming council meeting package.

Miller was the only one of Prince Albert’s eight city councillors to have a perfect attendance record in 2018. Miller was present at City Hall for all 18 regular and special council meetings last year, as well as all 15 public executive committee meetings, and every one of council’s 17 in camera meetings.

Ward 6 Coun. Blake Edwards was the only other councillor besides Miller to attend every regular and special council meeting, only missing one in camera and one executive committee meeting, while Couns. Ted Zurakowski and Dennis Ogrodnick only missed one meeting each. Ward 7 Coun. Dennis Nowoselsky missed the most regular and special council meetings of the group, attending 14 of the 18 total meetings.

Zurakowski and Ward 3 Coun. Evert Botha were the only other two councillors besides Miller to attend every executive committee meeting, and Ogrodick and Miller were the only ones to attend all in camera meetings.

The attendance figures still have to be formally approved like every other motion that comes forward. In the past, some councillors have disputed the official attendance record and had it corrected before voting.

Councillors may miss meetings for a variety of reasons, many of which involve formally representing Prince Albert at conferences and meetings outside of the city, or for personal and family related reasons.
