The Ministry of Corrections and Policing and it’s partners are providing $25,000 in funding to Mother’s Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Canada in order to continue fighting impairment behind the wheel.
The money is going towards MADD’s education programs about impaired driving for students and teachers.
“We know that ongoing education, especially among young people, is a big part of creating the social shift needed to eliminate impaired driving,” said Corrections and Policing Minister Christine Tell.
Minister Responsible for SGI, Joe Hargrave, said the province has made progress on the issue so far.
“But we need to remain vigilant,” he said. “MADD’s education and advocacy work in communities, in schools and in the media helps keep the issue top of mind.”
The government has partnered with MADD, among others, before to use media to spread the message of sober driving, including the #howareyougettinghome campaign over the August long weekend.
