A locally-made film starring several Prince Albert actors is set to hit the screen in the city on Monday.
Run Wolf, Run, a psychological thriller and mystery, follows Amelia—who was brought to life by Adreanna Boucher. According to the film’s summary, she’s struggling with substance abuse and lying to cope with it. Blacking out frequently, Amelia wakes up in the woods lost and in danger.
The film also includes Prince Albert’s Thomas Hugo, Kim Morrall, Maureen Pepper, Cara Stelmaschuk and several local children including Boucher’s daughter. Boucher’s brother’s dog also made an appearance.
Carli Robertson, who’s from Prince Albert but now lives in Saskatoon, took on the roles of writer, director, cinematographer and editor.
She said the project took three years before it premiered in Saskatoon at the beginning of December.
“You can see people’s reactions and also, even just weeks later, still hearing people talking about it and saying that it was still on their minds and they’re still thinking about the characters,” she said.
“It was just a very, very good feeling knowing that basically I succeeded with portraying things the way I wanted.”
A few years ago, Robertson spent nine months working on a short film. Before that, she did portrait photography.
“I knew a lot about taking pictures, so I applied that to film and then filled in the gaps. Basically I didn’t know anything about sound…so I had to catch up (on) those things.”
Boucher is active in the city’s theatre community, both in acting and behind the scenes, but this is her first film.
“Once you’re on stage, that’s it. You have to get it right the first time because you don’t have another chance,” said Boucher about acting in plays.
“It’s very different to have a camera up close in your face,” she added.
The cast shot in P.A. Battery, as well as at a residence south of the city.
“It’s nice to be able to bring it home and show that things can happen here in Saskatchewan,” emphasized Boucher.
“There’s this misconception that there’s nothing to do in P.A., for some people, and it’s just nice to be able to show how diverse the arts are in our city and showcase the amount of talent that we have here. It’s something we’re proud of.”
The Prince Albert screening takes place at the John M. Cuelenaere Public Library on Monday, Feb. 3 starting at 6:30 p.m.

Run Wolf, Run will be streaming on Amazon Prime starting Feb. 14.
