As he awaits to find out if he’ll play for Canada at this year’s World Juniors, Ian Scott now knows what his long-term hockey future will hold.
On Friday afternoon, the Toronto Maple Leafs announced that the Prince Albert Raiders goaltender had signed a three-year entry level contract with the team.
A fourth round pick (110th overall) by the Maple Leafs in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, Scott is having a career season with the top-ranked Raiders.
He’s posted a 23-2-0-1 record, a 1.61 goals against average, a .943 save percentage and four shutouts so far this year, and also scored a goal last month against the Tri-City Americans.
The 19-year-old from Calgary also spent time with the Toronto Marlies of the AHL this spring as they went on to win the Calder Cup. He started one game with the club last April, stopping 30 of 33 shots in a 4-3 victory over Belleville.
Scott is the third member of the Raiders to be signed to an entry-level contract by a NHL club, as Noah Gregor and Parker Kelly are prospects of the San Jose Sharks and Ottawa Senators respectively.
