La Ronge RCMP have made an arrest in a fatal collision dating back to 2021.
On Sept. 30, 2021, La Ronge RCMP responded to a collision involving a pedestrian on Frances Roberts Street in the La Ronge District. The pedestrian was transported to hospital and later declared deceased. He was identified as a 22-year-old male from Sucker River.
La Ronge RCMP continued to investigate with the assistance of the Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist, Saskatchewan RCMP’s La Ronge General Investigation Section and Prince Albert Forensic Identification Services.
As a result of further investigation, on Jan. 16, 2024 La Ronge RCMP located and arrested an adult female at a residence in the La Ronge District.
According to RCMP 29-year-old Christine Charles from the La Ronge District has been charged with one count, manslaughter, one count, criminal negligence, one count, dangerous operation of motor vehicle causing death, Section 320.13(3), Criminal Code one count, operation while impaired of motor vehicle causing death and one count, failure to stop after accident resulting in death.Sept. 30, 2021 at On Sept. 30, 2021 at approximately 3:30 a.m., La Ronge RCMP were dispatched to a report of an injured male in a parking lot on Francis Robert Street in La Ronge.
The 22-year-old male was located and transported to hospital with what were described as life-threatening injuries. Investigation determined that he was struck by a vehicle, which then left the scene.
Charles will appear in La Ronge Provincial Court on Feb. 1.
