Kozak holds one-shot lead heading into Senior Men’s Lobstick final round

Field and Tuffs tied for first in Super Senior event

After two rounds of play at the 2021 Fountain Tire Senior Men’s Lobstick tournament at Waskesiu Golf Course, Doug Kozak still finds himself in first place.

Kozak, who lost in a playoff to multi-time winner Colin Coben in 2016, shot a five-over round of 75 on Wednesday after an even-par round of 70 to start the tournament.

He holds a one-shot edge over Cliff Selander and Roger Gilhespy heading into Thursday’s final round.

Gilhespy rocketed up the leaderboard with a three-under par round of 67 on Wednesday, which is the best round of the event to date.

Martin Ring and Brad Phelps, who was the runner-up at the Senior Men’s Lobstick and the Lobstick tournaments last September, are two shots off the lead in a tie for fifth place.

Tony Turay is in sixth place and is three shots back of Kozak, while Rob Karlson and reigning provincial senior men’s champion Rick Hallberg clinched the final two spots in the championship flight with a two-round total score of nine-over par.

Defending tournament champion Warren Gnam is tied for the lead in the first flight with Coben.

Meanwhile, Ray Field and Gary Tuffs are tied for the lead in the Super Senior event with scores of 12-over par.

Bill Lewis and Doug Anderson are one shot off the lead in third place, while Bob Koltz and Jim Scissons are tied for fifth spot and three shots back.

Blair Sterling and Doug Piper have also qualified for the championship flight and are four shots behind the co-leaders.
