UPDATE: RCMP sent out a press release at 10:42 p.m. on Friday advising residents that the incident has concluded, but the investigation was still underway. More details are not yet available.

Spiritwood RCMP have increased their presence in the community of Witchekan Lake First Nation, and have asked residents and visitors to avoid the area with police activity and follow all officer directions.

RCMP have not provided any reason for the increased presence, but said in a press release they would notify the public if they identify an increased risk to public safety.

Residents and visitors are asked to avoid areas where police are present, and follow police directions.
