Esso Cup volunteer registration evening set for Wednesday

The 2020 Esso Cup organizing committee will be hosting a volunteer registration night at the Art Hauser Centre on Wednesday, Feb. 19 from 7 to 9 p.m.

The event, which will be held in the Steve Ruzinsky Room, will help to assist potential volunteers with the registration process for Canada’s national female Midget AAA hockey championship, which runs from April 19-25.

Among the areas that volunteers are still required for are team hosts, game operations, lounge and security.

“The team services (host) role is a little bit of everything,” Esso Cup volunteer director Candice Dawson said during an interview with the Daily Herald last week.

“It’s pretty much anything to do with the teams that are coming here. It could include helping the team with directions to find something, letting the coaches know where they need to go to buy a stick, or helping out with the team laundry or making sure that their snack tables are stocked. It’s a jack of all trades position.”

Dawson and other board members will be on hand Wednesday to answer any questions about the event and to help with the online application process.

The volunteer fee for the tournament is $25, which includes a volunteer uniform and an event pass.

All volunteers are required to complete a criminal record check as per Hockey Canada protocol.

Ticket packages for the entire 2020 Esso Cup, which will feature the host Prince Albert Northern Bears and five regional champions, are still on sale through Hockey Canada’s website for $65.50 with service charges.
