The City of Prince Albert has issued a fire ban for all areas north of the river and within the boundaries of the City of Prince Albert.

That includes Nordale, Hazeldell, and Little Red River Park.

The ban means no open fires or fireworks are permitted. Self-contained heating devices, gas barbeques, and propane fire pits are allowed for cooking and heating purposes. So are charcoal briquettes use in park provided barbeques and fire pits.

Fire Chief Kris Olsen said in a press release that the ban will remain in effect as long as extreme risk conditions remain.

The Fire Weather Index rates current conditions for the grasslands and forest fringe area as “extreme.”

Recreational use of approved fire pits south of the river, such as designated receptacles in Kinsmen Park, are not affected by the ban.
