Woman deceased after two-vehicle crash near Shell Lake

One woman is deceased following a highway crash between two vehicles near Shell Lake on Friday.

At about 10:26 p.m., Spiritwood RCMP attended the scene at the intersection of Highway 3 and Highway 12.

According to a news release, a westbound vehicle was turning left when it collided with an eastbound vehicle.

A 33-year-old woman, who was the passenger of the westbound vehicle, was pronounced dead after she arrived at Shellbrook Hospital.

The driver of that vehicle, a 23-year-old man, was transported by STARS to Saskatoon’s Royal University Hospital for undetermined injuries.

The 20-year-old driver of the other vehicle was released on scene after being treated for minor injuries.

The deceased woman’s name is not being released at this time.

While the collision is still under investigation, RCMP said they believe alcohol was involved.

Shell Lake is about one hour west of Prince Albert.
