Red River Roping and Riding holds first January horse showing and racing event

Red River Roping and Riding (RRRR) vice president Brennin Jack said he’s always looking for new ways to encourage new members, and young people in particular, to join the equestrian club.

His latest effort is Winter Fun Day, a 10-event competition open to new and experienced riders of all ages being held at the RRRR arena at the north end of Prince Albert on Saturday.

“This is the first time we’ve had one in January, but I just think people are itching to get riding their horses again and I think it’s a good way to get a lot of people out and going early on so we anticipate a pretty big crowd,” said Jack, who is organizing Winter Fun Day.

Jack said he expects 40 to 60 competitors to attend the event. He said new riders of all ages should feel welcome to attend Fun Day and take the opportunity to meet other participants and learn from the more seasoned riders.
