RCMP charged a sixth person in the death of an Edmonton woman, Tiki Brook-Lyn Laverdiere, on Tuesday.

A news release said Lloydminister RCMP, at the request of Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit North, arrested 33-year-old Soaring Eagle Whitstone of Onion Lake Cree Nation. She was arrested at a home in Lloydminister.

Whitstone is charged with first degree murder, kidnapping, improperly interfering with a human body and theft of a motor vehicle.

She’s scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on Thursday morning.

Laverdiere’s remains were found outside of North Battleford last month. She was reported missing at the beginning of May after she attended the funeral of Tristen Cook-Buckle, whose death is also being investigated as a homicide.

Three others have been charged with first degree murder among other charges in Laverdiere’s death, including Tristen’s mother, Nicole Cook. The two others are Shayla Orthner and Danita Thomas of North Battleford.

Brent Checkosis of North Battleford and Jesse Sangster of Edmonton are charged with accessory to murder among other charges in the homicide investigation.

RCMP said it expects to make additional arrests.
