Some of Canada’s top musical acts will be coming to Prince Albert for the E.A. Rawlinson Centre’s Fall 2017 season.
The theatre announced its line-up earlier this month. It features names such as Aaron Pritchett, Elliot Brood, Burton Cummings, and, as previously announced, the Barenaked Ladies.
The theme for the fall is Canada 150. Rawlinson Centre General Manager Darren McCaffery said the acts coming reflect that.
“Our theme was Canada 150. That’s the reason we brought in Burton Cummings,” McCaffery said. “We’ve also got a touring show called Oh Canada We Sing For Thee. That’s kind of a celebration of music across Canada, and that’s happening in early October as well.”
Of course, Pritchett is also Canadian. He is stopping through on his way to the Canadian Country Music Awards in Saskatoon, where he’s nominated for country music artist of the year and for best video. Pritchett is known for tunes such as ‘Big Wheel,’ Hold My beer’, Let’s Get Rowdy’ and ‘Boat on the Water.’
“He’s going to kick off our season,” McCaffery said. “That’s going to be a great show.”
Other acts include the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, on the Canadian leg of their 50 Years of Dirt Tour; Chris Collins and Boulder Canyon, who perform a John Denver tribute and the Elvis If I Can Dream tribute.
Of course, one of the major draws is expected to be the October 23 Burton Cummings show, part of his Up Close and Alone Tour.
“Basically, it’s Burton Cummings, just with a grand piano, singing all of his greatest hits,” McCaffery said.
