The Prince Albert Raiders have signed another of their 2017 bantam draftees, inking defenceman Braydon Clark to a Western Hockey League standard player agreement on Wednesday afternoon.
The Raiders selected the Langley, British Columbia native 47th overall in the third round of last year’s draft.
“Braydon is a good, young, mobile defenceman that plays a hard-nose style of game,” said Raiders general manager Curtis Hunt. “He plays with the kind of intensity that will make him a fan favourite here in Prince Albert. We are excited to get him signed.”
He played his bantam hockey at the Pursuit of Excellence Hockey Academy in Kelowna, B.C., recording three goals and 11 assists during the 2016-17 season.
At the Midget hockey level, Clark played this past season with Valley West Hawks of the B.C. Major Midget Hockey League. The team finished the year with the best record in the provincial league.
Clark had three goals and two assists in 21 games in a season limited to an upper-body injury suffered during Raiders training camp last year.
Assuming that Clark cracks the team’s roster this year in training camp, he’ll join a contingent of defencemen that balances speed and puck-moving abilities with physicality. That group includes Brayden Pachal, Max Martin, Sergei Sapego, Zach Hayes, Konrad Belcourt and Jeremy Masella.
