Health officials reported 77 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, along with 129 recoveries and one more death.

A patient in their 70s from the Central East Zone died after testing positive for the virus. The province did not release additional details about the case.

Healthcare workers administered 16,787 new vaccine doses, including 1,297 in North Central, and a combined 490 in the three far north zones. Roughly 68 per cent of Saskatchewan adults have received their first dose.

Saskatchewan has 166,824 fully vaccinated residents, including 12,296 in North Central, 2,926 in the Far North West, 2,672 in the Far North East, 7,004 in the North East, and 432 in Far North Central.

North Central reported 10 new cases on Thursday, along with 12 more recoveries. A patient who tested positive outside the province was also added to North Central’s total.

There are now 88 active cases in the area. That’s the fifth highest total in the province.

The Saskatoon Zone continues to have the highest number of active cases with 235, followed by the Regina Zone with 136, the North West Zone with 112, and the South Central Zone with 95.

Prince Albert reported two of North Central’s 10 new cases on Thursday. The remaining eight came from North Central Zone 1.

There are now 46 active cases in Prince Albert, 33 in Zone 1, and 9 in Zone 3.

The Far North West reported nine new cases and six more recoveries, bringing their active total to 40. The Far North East reported one new case and no recoveries. There are now 38 active cases in the area.

Far North Central continues to have no active cases.

The North East, with includes Melfort, Tisdale and Nipawin, reported no new cases and one new recovery. There are now 32 active cases in the area.

Saskatchewan has 101 people in hospital with COVID-19, 19 of which are in intensive care. Four of those ICU patients are in North Central.

As of June 9, health officials have identified 11,504 variants of concern (VOCs), 536 of which are in North Central.
