Prince Albert Police called to multiple incidents at the Prince Albert Exhibition

The second full day of the Prince Albert Exhibition on Wednesday saw the Prince Albert Police Service called to multiple incidents at the Prince Albert Exhibition Grounds.  

Police responded to three incidents of bear spray attacks and an individual slashing tires. 

 The Prince Albert Police Service stated they are working closely with the Prince Albert Exhibition Association and their security services to enhance public safety measures for the rest of the exhibition.   

“This collaborative effort includes increased police presence, improved communication channels between law enforcement and event security, and implementation of additional security protocols. Our joint priority is to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees,” the Police said in a release. 

The first bear spray attack was at  6:15 p.m. when the Prince Albert Police Service was alerted to a bear spray attack involving four victims, including two children. A young offender was arrested at the scene and charged with assault with a weapon. They will make their first court appearance on Aug. 7.  

The second bear spray incident was at 8:53 p.m. when police were called to a second incident affecting about 20 adults and children. No charges have been laid, and the incident is still under investigation.  

The third bear spray incident was at 11:04 p.m., police received a report of a third bear spray attack on a crowd of people. No charges have been laid at this time and this incident is still under investigation.  

Then At 10:39 p.m., officers responded to a weapons call involving a female with a large knife allegedly slashing tires. A female suspect was located and confronted by police. During the interaction, a Conducted Energy Weapon was deployed and the suspect was taken into custody. The 24-year-old female was charged with resisting arrest and will appear in court on Aug. 1.  

They encourage visitors to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to on-site security personnel or police officers.  

“The Prince Albert Police Service is committed to maintaining a strong presence and swift response to any potential incidents, allowing families and community members to fully enjoy the exhibition’s remaining events with peace of mind,” the release stated.
