The River Bank Development Corporation (RBDC) held the first of three housing assistance workshop for Prince Albert individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness on Sept. 4.
The housing support project runs until Sept.17. The next two are Sept. 10 at the Prince Albert Public Library and Sept. 17 at Prince Albert Indian Metis Friendship Centre.
“We have different locations around the city where people can access our support services,” RBDC Reaching Home Project Officer Diana Rodas said. “Since January last year, we started partnering with community agencies so we can provide people more central and local support.”
Rodas said the organization saw a very good turnout on its first housing assistance day. She said the need for assistance depends largely on the time of year.
“A whole reason why we do it in the community is just so people know that we are a point of access,” she explained.
She said getting individuals connected with private landlords or completing a housing application and other supporting services are some of what they provide to people.
“River Bank has been working with community agencies,” Rodas said. “It’s about community partnership and highlighting the great work that agencies are doing, so we welcome collaboration from the general public.”
The workshops run from 1-3 p.m. on scheduled days.
