An inmate was found deceased at Prince Albert’s Pine Grove Correctional Centre on Wednesday evening.
According to the Ministry of Corrections and Policing, the woman was found unresponsive in her cell before being declared deceased at about 7 p.m. The death is not related to COVID-19.
The Prince Albert Police Service is investigating the incident, and the ministry will be conducting an internal investigation.
The death has been referred to the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service. The woman’s next of kin have been notified.
