PAGCC to celebrate 50th anniversary in September

An important milestone is about to be achieved at the Prince Albert Golf & Curling Club.

The facility will celebrate their 50th anniversary with a two-day event on Friday, Sept. 21 and Saturday, Sept. 22.

“It’s a pretty big deal here around the club,” general manager Matt Sawatzky said. “All of our members are looking forward to it and it’s going to pretty exciting.”

The event will honour lifetime members Sherry Anderson, who captured the World Senior Curling Championship earlier this year in Sweden, and three-time Saskatchewan amateur golf champion Ron Stewart.

Long time TSN curling commentator Vic Rauter will serve as the master of ceremonies for both evenings, which also include a revisiting of the history of the PAGCC.

A meet and greet style event will take place on Sept. 21, with tickets costing $20.

The following evening will see a gala dinner and silent auction taking place, with tickets costing $100.

“We wanted to put together a more affordable night on the Friday, especially for those that can’t afford a $100 tickets for the Saturday evening event,” Sawatzky said.

“We have 700 members here and 200 tickets for each evening, so we’re advising everyone to get their tickets as soon as possible.”

Those who want to purchase tickets can visit the PAGCC or call the club at 306-765-5201.
