Off-duty P.A. police officer charged with impaired driving

A 13-year veteran of the Prince Albert Police Service has been charged with impaired driving.

The incident dates back to March 3, when police received a complaint about a possible impaired driver at about 1:45 a.m. The private vehicle and driver were not located at the time of the complaint, but through an investigation, police determined the driver was a police officer and 13-year member of the service who was off duty at the time.

Monday, a charge of impaired operation of a motor vehicle was laid, after the conclusion of the investigationa nd a review by public prosecutions.

Const. Brett Henry, 35, is on paid administrative leave while the case is before the courts. The incident will also be subject to an internal investigation commencing at the conclusion of criminal proceedings.

Henry will make his first appearance in provincial court on August 9.
