Klughart wins Cooke club title

Danny Klughart was able to add another accolade to his golf resume this weekend.

The Prince Albert product shot a three-under round of 68 on Saturday and followed that up with a two-under round of 69 to win the Cooke Municipal Golf Club’s men’s club championship for the first time.

Klughart finished five shots ahead of Martin Ring in the championship flight, with Ashley Ziegeman, two-time defending champion Cory Selander and Dave Patola rounding out the top five.

Trevor Ring used a two-under par round of 69 on Sunday to win the men’s first flight by two strokes over Brett Henry and Josh Guthrie.

Bill Cannon edged out Mike Garson and Jeff McKeand to win the second flight event.

Meanwhile, the senior men’s championship flight went to Tom Ross as he defeated Garry Hagen by five shots.

Garnet Matheson, John Foster and Ron Stewart ended up in a tie for third place.

Leo McDougal won the senior men’s first flight competition over Kevin Sanderson by three strokes, and Grant Dennis had a two-shot edge over Don Filteau to capture the senior men’s second flight.
