A Prince Albert man accused of possessing child pornography was released after a bail hearing Thursday.
Warren Nelson Brown, 41, appeared in court by video, with prison issue clothing and severely dishevelled hair. His mother was in the courtroom.
The Crown and the defence agreed on a set of conditions for his release, but they were never read to the court. Judge Singer said that they are typical of child pornography cases.
Brown was arrested on Tuesday after a four month investigation by the Internet Child Exploitation Unit. In February, the unit received a tip that someone was uploading child pornography to a cloud storage account. They traced it back to Prince Albert, and executed a search warrant in April.
Police seized a computer and storage devices containing child pornography. According to Crown prosecutor Shawn Blackman, there is so far no record of how many images or videos were found.
Brown’s mother seemed eager to see him free. She said she needed his help to move. When she saw his court file, she seemed taken aback.
“That’s how big my son’s file is,” she exclaimed.
