Ian Scott will be in between the pipes for Team Cherry at the Top Prospects game

Since 2011, the Prince Albert Raiders have been well represented at the annual Sherwin Williams CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game.

This year will be no different, as 17-year-old Ian Scott will be manning the crease for Team Cherry Monday, Jan. 30 in Quebec City. Most recently, Simon Stransky and Brendan Guhle were players from Prince Albert who skated in the contest.

“I always pick the brains of people who went to the combine and stuff like that and the Top Prospects Game,” Scott said.

“It’s a fun experience, [Simon] says, and it’s just something to look forward to.”

As for his reaction upon hearing the news that he will be starring in a unique opportunity to play in front of a plethora of NHL scouts? Scott couldn’t be happier.

“It’s definitely pretty exciting,” he said.

“I’ve watched in previous years and it’s just a good opportunity to show my game to all those watching.”

Scott is one of 40 CHL players competing in the game. Rosters were chosen by all 30 NHL clubs and were divided into teams by NHL Central Scouting. This year marks the 22nd annual showcase featuring talent from the QMJHL, OHL and WHL.
