Annual Canadian Cancer Society fundraiser ready to go

Some of Prince Albert’s most prominent residents are set to become jailbirds this Thursday as the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) gets ready to hold its annual Jail-N-Bail Fundraiser at Gateway Mall.

This year marks the 27th consecutive Jail-N-Bail, and as part of the festivities, seven former Prince Albert citizen-of-the-year award winners are going to be pleading their cases.

Charlene Bernard, the unit manager at the CCS Prince Albert office, said they were excited to get the event underway.

“We always have a lot of fun at this event, just a lot of laughs,” she said. “We’ve got some silly charges and people have fun pleading their cases before the judge. People seem to get a kick out of calling their friends and family and saying they’re calling from jail.”
