A youth has been arrested and a school notified after a death threat was made on social media Sunday evening

According to a police press release, a youth was arrested Monday morning for uttering death threats. An investigation indicated the youth acted alone, and no further threat exists.

Initial information indicated the threat involved Carlton Comprehensive High School. However, police have since determined that there is no information to suggest Carlton was the intended target of the threat.

The police are not releasing the name of the school the youth attended to protect the suspect’s identity. The school has been notified.

The suspect is due to appear in court for a first appearance Tuesday.

Police became aware of the threat on January 6 and began their investigation. A heavy, high-visibility police presence was provided at Carlton on January 7 for security.
