Contest asks entrepreneurs to pitch their best ideas for a chance at a free year at Gateway Mall
Budding entrepreneurs in Prince Albert, get ready. A competition is coming that could land you a free first year of a lease at Gateway Mall.
The Entrepreneur Challenge is launching on March 6. The winner will win a one-year lease at the mall.
The competition is somewhat like popular CBC reality show Dragon’s Den, where budding entrepreneurs will pitch their business plans at a Chamber of Commerce Luncheon in a bid to win the lease.
But before the finalists get to the public pitch, they have to be judged by a panel on their business plan. For help with that, Gateway Mall has teamed up with Community Futures.
“We will develop a criteria we’re looking at,” explained Sharon Faul, General manager of Gateway Mall.
“Things like if it’s a good fit for our community, if it’s a niche that’s missing in our community, if it’s feasible, if it’s realistic.”
Faul will be on the panel of judges, as well as representatives from Business Development Canada, Community Futures, the Chamber of Commerce and a businessperson at large from the city who is a legacy operator.
