After losing a hard-fought 2-1 overtime affair in the first game back from Christmas Friday night, the Prince Albert Northern Bears earned a measure of revenge Saturday.
In the second game of a weekend series in Wilcox, the Bears improved their record to 11-7-2 on the season with a 5-1 win over the Notre Dame Hounds.
Brooklyn Anderson led the way on offence Saturday with a pair of goals, while Jadyn Kushniruk had a goal and an assist in the win.
Kate Ball and Miranda Heidt also scored for the Bears, who received a 17-save performance from Scout Anderson.
The Hounds, who are in seventh place in the league with a 4-9-2 mark, got their lone goal from Jillian Schmit.
Rayanne Mackenzie stopped 19 shots in the loss.
Ally Kosteniuk was the hero for the Hounds in overtime Friday as she scored on the power play at the 1:43 mark of the extra frame.
Claire Nimegeers also scored for the hosts, while Kaitlyn Ross turned aside 31 shots.
Paris Oleksyn had the lone goal for the Bears during the first period of play.
Goaltender Lexi Beuker, who has committed to the Minot State Beavers program for next season, made 19 saves in the overtime setback.
The Bears will return to action this weekend for a pair of games against the Hounds at the Kinsmen Arena.
Both contests will get underway at 3 p.m, Saturday and Sunday.
The team will then make a trip to Shellbrook on Saturday, Jan. 19 for a 3 p.m. matchup with the Melville Prairie Fire.
A rematch will take place at the Kinsmen Arena at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20.
