Winter Festival kicks off early this year at inaugural Tux and Touques Gala

Changes are coming to the Prince Albert Winter Festival.

Winter Festival president Barry Mihilewicz said the annual cabaret and Mr. and Mrs. Winter Festival, two longstanding festival features, have been declining in popularity. This year they have been replaced with the new Tux and Touques Gala and the honourary chairperson, respectively.

The inaugural Winter Festival Tux and Touques Gala takes place at Plaza 88 on Jan. 21. With the festival still a month away, Mihilewicz calls the evening a “precursor,” recognizing the legacy of the festival while giving attendees a sample of the festivities to come.

“We live in this winter wonderland where, if you want to go to a formal event in the wintertime, you may as well wear a touque to get there given the weather we’ve had the last week or so,” he said.
