Two inmate deaths in one day at Saskatchewan Penitentiary

Another inmate from Saskatchewan Penitentiary inmate has died, on the same day the federal institution reported the death of Daniel James Tokarchuk.

Christopher Andrew Van Camp, 37, died in custody on Wednesday, according to Correctional Service Canada. Emergency services were called, but Van Camp could not be resuscitated.

Van Camp was serving a sentence of 5 years, 5 months and 12 days since June 6, 2012 for armed robbery, fraud and break and enter.

His next of kin have been notified of his death. Correctional Service Canada said the incident is under investigation, and police and the coroner’s office have been notified.

The two deaths come weeks after another death of an inmate serving time Saskatchewan Penitentiary. Curtis Robert Cozart passed away on May 24.
