An inmate at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary died in custody on Tuesday, according to a press release from Correctional Services of Canada.
Steven Morrisseau was identified as the inmate. He had been serving a life sentence for contempt of court and second degree murder since May, 10, 2019.
Morrisseau’s next of kin has been notified of his death.
Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances. Policy requires police and the coroner to be notified.
