Regional high school volleyball tournaments this weekend

The fields for the 2018 Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association provincial girls’ volleyball championships will be set in stone this weekend as regional tournaments take place across the province.

The Carlton Crusaders and St. Mary Marauders are in Pool B for a 5A North Regional tournament in Warman, where the top three teams will advance to the provincials next week in Saskatoon.

The Meadow Lake Carpenter Spartans and the John Paul II Crusaders of North Battleford are also in Pool B.

The other schools competing in the event are the Lloydminster Barons, North Battleford Vikings, Martensville Royals and Warman Wolverines.

Meanwhile, the Prince Albert Collegiate Institute Golden Bears are at a 4A North Regional tournament in Nipawin this weekend.

They are in Pool A for the event and will go up against the L.P. Miller Bears of Nipawin and the Waldheim Raiders.

The Melfort Comets, Humboldt Mohawks and the Churchill Chargers of La Ronge are also vying for three spots at the provincials, which will be held in Clavet next weekend.

Meanwhile, the 5A boys’ provincial lineup will be decided this weekend during a North Regional tournament in Warman

The St. Mary Marauders, who will serve as the hosts for next week’s provincials, are in Pool A and will play the Meadow Lake Carpenters Spartans and the North Battleford Vikings.

The Carlton Crusaders will be joining the Lloydminster Barons, John Paul II Crusaders of North Battleford and the Warman Wolverines in Pool B for the other two spots at the provincials.

The other four divisions are holding conference tournaments this weekend, with their regional events slated for Nov. 16-17 and the provincial taking place the following weekend.

The PACI Golden Bears are at a four-team 4A boys conference tournament in Melfort this weekend.
