Prince Albert Raiders head coach Marc Habscheid will have a pair of familiar faces next to him on the bench this season.

The defending Ed Chynoweth Cup champions announced on Thursday morning that Jeff Truitt and Dan Gendur will return to the team for their second season as assistant coaches.

Before joining the Raiders, Truitt was an associate coach with the Red Deer Rebels for six seasons, while Gendur was the head coach for the Airdrie Bisons in the Alberta Midget Hockey League for the 2017-18 campaign.

The Raiders also announced that Kelly Guard is back with the team as their goaltending coach.

Guard, who had served in a variety of roles on the Raiders staff from 2012 to 2018, was an assistant coach with the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Lloydminster Bobcats last year.

He will be replacing Mike Brodeur, who has taken a job with the AJHL’s Fort McMurray Oil Barons as an assistant coach and goaltending coach.

In other news, the Raiders training camp is slated to get underway on Friday, Aug. 30.

The complete schedule will be announced in the coming days.
